New To Cannabis?

New to Cannabis? Here’s a short guide that covers the basics of cannabis. From joints to edibles, your friendly neighborhood raccoons have got you covered!

Indicas, Sativas & Hybrids: How do I know what to try?

The terms indica and sativa originate from their species names: Cannabis indica & Cannabis sativa, respectively. They’re associated with different effects, but don’t let these terms define your weed choices permanently: pure indica and sativa varieties are relatively rare these days, and hybridization means that many, many strains with widely varying experiences are available to try. Everyone responds to Cannabis differently, so be sure to try a few different ones to see what works best for you!

– Originally grew in warmer climates, near the equator
– Typically has energizing, creative, uplifting qualities
– Tend to be preferred by recreational users
– Grow taller and thinner than their indica sisters, with narrower leaves

– Originally grew in colder climates further north
– Typically has relaxing, appetite-encouraging, analgesic effects
– Tend to be preferred by medicinal users
– Grow shorter and bushier than their sativa sisters, with wider leaves

These guidelines are surprisingly flexible at times and everyone responds differently to Cannabis, so don’t worry too much if a strain doesn’t match up precisely with your expectations. Each plant is truly a new experience, due to differences in genetics, lighting, humidity, lighting and more.

Intake methods

There are three main categories of consuming Cannabis:
– Inhalation (includes smoking, vaporization)
– Digestion (infused food, tinctures, capsules)
– Topical (ointments, lotions, etc. Not psychoactive)

Club Raccoons carries affordable artisan glass pipes, pre-rolled joints, infused candy, and plain ol’ buds (often called flowers), so whatever you want to try, we’ve got you covered! Prices for cannabis intake devices range from very inexpensive (about $10 for a small pipe) to… expensive. Like, really, really expensive. Whatever your budget, several options are available. You can even make your own! Everyone has their personal favorites, so be sure to experiment (safely!) and try a few different methods.

**Important Safety Information Regarding Edibles**

Listen to the packaging, and start slow. We’re not kidding. While it won’t harm you in the long run, over-consumption of edibles is the #1 mistake of many newer users. Remember how your friend’s friend ate three brownies that one time and spent the evening slumped over the toilet, convinced he was a bee? Don’t bee that guy. Even if you are accustomed to smoking, edibles are frequently very potent and should be treated with care. Wondering where to start? For new users, we recommend Cannabee Candy Co Shareable Gummy Bears, which are a lower dose and suitable for new users. Not feeling your dose just yet? Wait until at least 1-2 hours have passed to see how you feel before deciding whether to take another dose. PROTIP: edibles absorb into our systems better when fats are also present, so eat your bears with a meal or snack containing fats for optimal absorption.

It’s all about the THC content, right?

Nope! If you’re like most new users, you’re already familiar with Cannabis’ most well-known ingredient, THC. However, THC isn’t the only player in the game: Cannabis also contains more than 80 unique compounds (called cannabinoids), which all have their own beneficial effects and interactions with our bodies. Some compounds, such as CBD, aren’t psychoactive (meaning it won’t make you feel ’stoned’) and actually moderate the more intense sensations of THC while simultaneously providing relief from anxiety, nausea, and more. More information about cannabinoids can be found here.

Tips for having the most enjoyable time possible:
– Mindset matters! You’re more likely to have a good experience if you’re somewhere safe and familiar.
– Stay hydrated with water (or your favorite beverage). It’ll help ease the drying effects of Cannabis on your mouth, eyes, and sinuses.
– Stock up on snacks *before* lighting up. You are welcome.
